My friend John has a great plan; when he tours europe this coming winter, he’s going to follow the music scene all around each country. He’s a big fan of European music, such as the British Invasion and all of that. I applaud him; I’m a fan of music, but I don’t know if I have the wherewithal to travel the world analyzing it. He’s got a great music blog that will allow him to post his findings and his opinions on the web for everybody to see. I know that I’ll be following it from day one.

His plan is to start in Portugal and to continue east throughout Europe. I believe that he has been looking into various touring ideas such as taking Rail Europe a lot of the time and staying in hostels. Being part of a set construction crew can be a very exciting and satisfying job. It if it was not for these crew members, many movies and plays would never get launched.

On a lot of movie sets today, it almost takes one hundred set crew members to construct all the scenery and props. This especially includes science fiction movies like Star Wars, Independence Day and Jurassic Park. On these movie sets, there were probably well over one hundred set crew members. Each of these members is responsible for setting up the props for a particular movie scene.

The crew members who work on stage plays, generally have all the responsibility of setting the entire stage set up. Depending upon the play and how many acts are involved, stage set up can take from five to twenty four hours. In addition to setting everything up, set construction crews are also usually responsible for tearing everything down. This can often be long and tedious work.

In addition to working on stage and movie sets, professional crew members are also needed to create background scenes for music videos. This too can involve a lot of hard work and long hours. The time involved and how many set crew members are needed, is typically based on the theme of the video and the individual artist. For example, working on a video set for musical artists like the Rolling Stones or Bee Gees probably doesn’t take very long. However, constructing a video set for an artist like Beyonce or Madonna would probably take ten to fifteen hours.

After looking at all the work and time involved, you are probably wondering why would anyone want to be a set construction worker.
